It is cliché to say that life hands us many challenges. From mothers-in-law to children, empty-nest syndrome, infidelity, and financial hardships. Add to the mix the challenges unique to retirement, and one can easily curl up in the fetal position and lament the existential question, Why bother.

Rather than being a treatise on nihilism, I have chosen to focus more closely on opportunities. I am doing this for my own welfare, in an attempt to untangle my own misgivings, guilts, and trepidations, while looking out into an uncertain future – as we all must do.
